Three Wheeled Buggies
If you're looking for a buggy to run with or just a compact stroller for neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies offer great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver, even in tight spaces.
For a smooth ride, go for a pram that has air-filled tyres. Look for models with an swivel wheel that rotates 360 degrees in front. They are susceptible, however, to punctures. Make sure you have an emergency repair kit.
Sturdy frame

The basic rule is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with bumpy ground and rough pavements. With larger wheels front and back also makes it much easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on rough terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested the buggy with a newborn and a 3 year old and found that it coped well with cobbles, grass, rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it is sturdy to push and is very stable when you're on rough terrain. The tyres, that are inflatable and require to be pumped up occasionally, have built-in suspension. It was extremely comfortable for my kids.
The size and shape of the seat is a further factor to consider. You'll want it to be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort and you will also need it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies will have the option of reclining completely, while others only allow for an adult facing one.

Larger wheels
Larger wheels mean that your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. They also help you maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies feature swivel front wheels to assist you in maneuvering around tight corners, while others are specifically designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability with which they can be driven. This is especially useful when you crash into a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will lift slightly to keep it from hitting it.
A majority of 3 wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres, which means they can handle a variety of terrains and are far more flexible than four wheelers. They are also lighter. However, they're prone to punctures, so you'll need a repair kit, spare tube, and pump on hand.

Easy to maneuver
One of the primary benefits to a three wheel buggy is that it is much more maneuverable particularly with a child in tow. They are designed so that the front wheels turn on a dime, and are easy to maneuver, making them perfect for challenging terrain such as parks, cobblestones, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried an all-wheeler with her toddler. she said: "The Terrain is a delight to navigate on uneven terrain. The swivel wheel in the front was especially useful." I was also impressed with the way it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. I found it extremely steady when I was driving downhill or over uneven ground."
The only downside of this great mobility is that the 3 wheel buggy's larger wheels do sometimes mean that it will be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces - something to keep in mind when you live in a metropolitan area. If this is a problem then a 4-wheel buggy may be a better option for you.
